How to Write Essays Part Four: How to outline an Essay Topic

Why is it so difficult to learn to write essays? The opportunities to learn aren’t as accessible than ever. With fewer universities, colleges offering courses in nearly every subject, it’s harder to find a university which will allow you to teach its course, or even help you write their term papers. Academic writing skills are becoming more essential. For most careers in academe the academic essay is a prerequisite.

Here, I won’t go into the process of writing essays here. You’ll need to go to the website of your college or university to learn how to write an essay, I’m afraid. To be successful in this field, you will need at least three things. The three essential elements include an introduction, a thesis and an end.

A good introduction should draw the reader’s attention. This is done with the use of a series of statements. The statement must answer two questions which are: Who? What? Where when Why? Based on these questions, the writer will then write engaging and readable prose that will get your readers intrigued by what is writing. The introduction is possibly the most important step in learning how to write essays.

A thesis is a must to be able to write essays. It is a conclusion arrived at after analyzing every piece of evidence. In other words, a thesis is a reasoned piece information, usually built upon several paragraphs. A thesis addresses all the questions in the introduction and then builds the body of your essay by providing all relevant details.

There is also the paragraph essay. This is your traditional form of writing. Your essay writing skills will be used to compose the main body of your essay. This will include an introduction, a thesis and an end. Your paragraphs should be linked and complement each other.

Each of these elements of writing essays can be quite complex. It is possible to master the basics and find it simpler than you expected. Because you are making use of your essay writing skills when you write your essay. To learn how to write essays, you don’t require an expert writer.

When you write a simple essay, for example, you are making the main points or a thesis statement or an introduction. You are looking into your subject by answering questions and making a statement about the topic. Writing a complex essay is when you write an entire paragraph as well as a more complex level. This requires you to utilize your deeper writing skills such as vocabulary and subject names, creating charts or arguments, and so forth. These are all abilities that you learn over time but they’re all based on your familiarity with basic essay writing.

This is the final step in our four-part series on how to write essays. An outline will provide structure to your essay and help you to focus on the key aspects. Begin by creating an outline of the things you want to say in each paragraph. Then, you’ll know what is the most important information you should include in each paragraph and what you think is essential to highlight in the body of your paper. Now, you’re ready to begin writing.
